Guided Meditations and Calming Music Tracks with Binaural Beats

Meditation is an exercise of the mind where you practice focusing your attention, intentionally. I invite you to explore the collection below for both guided meditations, as well as relaxing music composed with binaural beats for unguided practice.

Guided Meditations

I created this collection of guided meditations with gentle background music to support you in more deeply focusing on areas such as your thoughts, emotions, body, and breath, as well as visualization exercises to promote relaxation.

Calming Music with Binaural Beats

I composed the tracks below with binaural beats in a professional music synthesizer program to enhance relaxation and support you in practicing self-guided meditation. If unfamiliar with binaural beats, scroll down for a detailed description.

These tracks are best listened to with headphones for optimal effects.

What are Binaural Beats?

Binaural beats are an auditory illusion we experience when two slightly different frequencies are played separately in each ear, so they’re best listened to with headphones. The part of the brain involved in auditory processing perceives a third tone (the difference between the two frequencies) that doesn’t exist as a physical sound in our external environment.

When listened to in specific frequency ranges, binaural beats can induce relaxation, focus, creativity, heightened intuition, and improved sleep.

How Do Binaural Beats Work?

Our brain’s electrical activity naturally moves at different speeds depending on the state we’re in (Fastest to slowest: Gamma is highly focused, Beta is alert or stressed, Alpha is relaxed or daydreaming, Theta can be either a deeply meditative state or in between waking and sleeping, and Delta is deep relaxation or asleep).

Sound can have a profound effect on our mental state. For example, have you ever noticed feeling more relaxed when listening to a slow song, or feeling more alert or energetic when you listen to a fast one?

Since sound frequencies can influence brain activity, binaural beats can be used to reduce stress and connect to a more relaxed brainwave state, which can be a great foundation for practicing self-guided or unguided meditation. I created the tracks above using the following frequencies:

⟡   Delta (0.5 – 4 Hz): Deep sleep, relaxation

⟡   Theta (4 – 8 Hz): Meditation, creativity, deep relaxation

⟡   Alpha (8 – 14 Hz): Calm focus, relaxation, stress relief

Binaural beats alone sound like a constant pulsing. Some people find it soothing, but for many, it can quickly become boring, or even uncomfortable. Since most people find it easier to relax when calming music is added (and because I love making music), I created these tracks to help you more deeply immerse yourself into your listening experience.

Happy listening!
